EWA Board re-elected for new term

Bijgewerkt op: 17 jul.

At the General Assembly meeting held at Campus@Sea, The Hague on April 15th, 2024, the Energy from Water Association (EWA) members re-elected the board for a new two-year term. We are pleased to announce that four board members continue their dedicated service, while we thank Menno Broers for his significant contributions to the sector, who chose not to seek re-election. The EWA board now welcomes a volunteer passionate about reinforcing our team and advancing the sector.

Meet the EWA Board Members:

  • Peter Scheijgrond (Chairman) is the CEO at Bluespring, committed to improving the visibility of the sector and making investments in the sector more attractive. He brings in his extensive practical experience, creativity and a strong global network in the sector.

  • Maarten Berkhout (Treasurer) is a co-founder of SeaQurrent, bringing strong analytical skills and extensive insights into energy markets to the board, backed by his background in econometrics.

  • Luc Hogervorst (Secretary) is co-founder of WECO, a novel wave energy converter, and brings a fresh and critical view to the association.

  • Erwin Meijboom (Knowledge Gaps) is co-founder of Slowmill Wave Power and is dedicated to closing the knowledge gaps in the sector, stimulating collaboration between industry and academia.

With the ongoing energy transition, there is increasing attention for energy from water solutions. These solutions offer substantial benefits, such as co-siting with offshore wind farms, integration into water infrastructure, and providing reliable baseload power in areas experiencing net congestion. Additionally, energy from water solutions like low-head hydropower can take advantage of existing spatial configurations, efficiently using land and water resources while minimizing environmental impact. The EWA board is committed to delivering key messages targeted at politicians, policymakers, and investors, actively participating in industry events (such as our recent bid to host ICOE 2026 in The Netherlands), and promoting collaboration with supply chain, knowledge institutes and other stakeholders.

If you are interested in joining the EWA board, please reach out to one of the board members!
