Location: upstairs bus platform, look for the stop for "FLIX buses". Our bus is a large 63 seater bus, is white and has a logo "Look-Tours". Please arrive early.



Join the Dutch Energy From Water Association (EWA) for an official side event of Ocean Energy Europe 2023 in The Hague on Friday 27th October! Departing from the International Bus Platform (upstairs) at Den Haag Central Station the tour promises a day of exploration and discovery into the world of ocean energy. Participants are requested to arrive promptly at 09:00 am for a 09:15 am departure. The bus arrives back at central station after 18:00. On the return journey, you can make a stop at Schiphol airport to accommodate those wishing to catch a flight or train to other destinations.


As you embark on this journey, you'll have the unique opportunity to visit pioneering Dutch technology developers in the fields of wave energy, tidal energy, and salinity gradient power. While you travel, you will be treated to the sights of the North Holland typical polder countryside, dotted with stolpboerderijen, traditional Dutch farmhouses with thatched pyramid roofs, and wide views of the Wadden Sea and several onshore wind farms.


At each company, you will make a stop of 45 minutes, providing ample time to delve into their projects and engage with industry experts. Lunch will be provided on the bus, ensuring a seamless and immersive experience throughout the day. To maintain an intimate atmosphere and foster meaningful interactions, the maximum number of participants is limited to 50.



Your itinerary includes the following stops:


Start A Departure from International Bus Platform (upstairs) at Den Haag Central Station, The Hague (meet at 09:00am for departure at 09:15am). Note there are two train stations: Den Haag CS and Den Haag HS. Make sure you go to CS (=Central Station).


Stop B Symphony Wave at MultiMetaal in Den Helder - Observe the components of their full-scale demonstrator for the Symphony Wave prototype. (Estimated arrival: 11:00 am)


Stop C Slowmill assembly site at Kooyhaven in Den Helder - Witness their demonstrator installed off the coast of Texel in 2022. (Estimated arrival: 12:15 pm)


On your way to the next stop, you will pass the former test site of Tocardo tidal turbines in the Afsluitdijk at the Stevin discharge sluice gates, which are now under renovation.


Stop D RED-stack experimental reverse osmosis plant on the Afsluitdijk near Breezanddijk - Experience the world's only place where energy is generated from the salinity difference between fresh lake water and seawater. (Estimated arrival: 13:30 pm)


Stop E Fish Flow Innovations in Medemblik - Marvel at their ultra-low head ducted tidal turbine, selected for the Tidal Power Plant Larantuka in Indonesia. (Estimated arrival: 15:30 pm)


Stop F Those wishing to catch a train or flight from Schiphol can be dropped off somewhere between 17:15 and 18:00 on the way back. Please make sure your flight departs after 20:00 to ensure sufficient time for check-in and security procedures at Schiphol Airport.


END G We expect to be back at AMARE theatre around 19:00 depending on traffic.
